Hopefully you have contacted you representatives. Hopefully you have joined the NRA and/or another 2nd Amendment organization. Now it is time to do something else. On Saturday, January 19, across this great nation, patriots will be gathering at our respective state capitols for a peaceful, friendly demonstration of how we feel about our rights. Here in South Carolina, Columbia will be full of people who are ready to take a stand. Sootch00 has put together the video. Please watch it, share it, and spread the word.
“…There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws…”
Dr. Ferris – Atlas Shrugged
Wow! That might be one of the most honest and prophetic pieces of fiction that I have ever read. This applies to every facet of our lives as free men and women. Government rule via fear. Why do we pay absurd amounts of taxes when our Founding Fathers had a party in the Boston Harbor over a 3% tax on tea. I pay at least 6% on a glass of tea in a restaurant and do it without blinking. Why is that? Why do we accept the recent 2% increase in our payroll withholding? Fear of being labeled a criminal and the punishments that come with it. Why will some willingly hand over a firearm worth several hundred dollars for a gas card and a flu shot?
They pass rules and regulations about anything any everything. EPA, FDA, DHS, BAFTE, and the list goes on. An alphabet soup of “Agencies” who are ran by non-elected officials that pass regulations that dictate our very existence. And the impending gun regulation that will restrict use of a right guaranteed by the very document that is meant to govern our land. All done without batting an eye. I am almost positive this isn’t what Jefferson, Washington, Monroe, and Adams had in mind when they framed the Constitution. This isn’t what freedom feels like. When are we going to get our collective heads out of the sand and draw a line in it instead.
This may be the most concise hard-hitting video on the impending gun control. ***WARNING – there is some language, but we are all adults and this is a serious matter***
It is from Travis Haley, founder and CEO of Haley Strategic, former CEO of Magpul Dynamics. Haley is a veteran Force Recon Marine who has real world experience in areas that have disarmed their citizenry.
Emily Miller it’s converting the story of David Gregory not getting arrested for blatantly breaking DC’s “high capacity” magazine ban. http://www.washingtontimes.com/blog/guns/2013/jan/9/miller-dc-police-wont-arrest-david-gregory/
This story has been sporadic in the news (at least MSM), but I think it is a telling story. This is also happening while I am reading Atlas Shrugged for the 1st time, so it seems especially relevant. The CEO pens it as a loss of religious freedom, but it is also a lost of personal freedom.
For the Federal Government to mandate an action that violates one’s religious beliefs was the very intent of the 1st Amendment. The owners do not believe in abortion and see it as murder. An equivalent would be the Government requiring all Quaker-owned businesses to require Reserve Duty of their employees.
David Green has stated that they will pay the daily fine until they are forced to close their doors. While a different approach than the “strikers” of Shrugged, it is in the same spirit of protest. I can only see more and more businesses mirroring this decision and greater regulations are forced on them by the Government. Like the ice cream shop that has to install a $25,000 grease trap to open when he will have no grease in the building (the fate of a local business) or the Rawsome Raids on “unregulated” milk. These asinine laws are hurting small businesses and ultimately a hindrance to our economy. I look for more business to start closing versus dealing with the additional headache/cost of dealing in an overly regulated environment.
See, I told you not all of my posts would be firearm related.
http://onlygunsandmoney.blogspot.com/2013/01/this-is-why-you-need-more-than.html Because 10+ rounds isn’t high capcity. My XD was designed to hold more, so those magazines are standard capacity.
Not very often do my two blogs intersect, but due to current events, I do feel as though there is some intersect: Freedom. See, I believe that God as the Creator gave us free will. He chose to allow us to choose not to worship Him, knowing that some would choose that and have the consequence of hell.Everything else flows from that. In other words, God (who is omniscient) granted us freedom. I do not understand why He chose this, other than He loves us. It is a complete, uncompromising love. A love that He knew would have deadly repercussion but a love is unwavering. America’s Founding Fathers recognized that and included it into the Constitution. The Bill of Rights doesn’t grant us those freedoms, it merely protects them from a tyrannical government.
Those rights are under attack and the general populace seems apathetic to even notice it. As long as they have their dose of reality TV and McDonalds, everything is copacetic. This is very frustrating for someone such as myself, who tends to see things in absolutes. There is no budging; no compromise. My God gave me this, who are you to take it away. Today it is guns, tomorrow it is privacy (already under attack), the next it is religion. We need to stop this assault in its tracks and stand up for our freedoms.
- This is one of the greatest quotes ever!
This is how I feel, and I will not apologize for it.
http://minx.cc/?post=336072 This is the same attitude that looks to gun control in an effort to curb violence. They banned guns and out didn’t work, now knives. What’s next, banning cricket bats? People, please let your voice be heard. Contact your congressmen and litter then know your stance on guns and the 2nd Amendment.
